After what seemed to be hours Vesna finally fell asleep, curling up onto the stranger in her bed. It was hard to get comfortable at first but she gave up on awkwardness and fells asleep with her head against his chest and one of her legs in between his. He was actually pretty comfortable and warm. She had a nice dreamless, dead sleep. One where she didn't have to worry about if the guy next to her was going to get her killed or not. No, that was best left to the morning.
When morning came she still slept, exhausted from the previous day's battle. Around them some men continued to sleep, tossing around or snoring loudly. Others headed to an early breakfast so they could take the missions with the highest bounties before everyone else woke up. If Vesna was awake she would be one of them, probably fighting with someone over who got what bounty. Although truth be told it was a rare occurrence for her to ever be up that early. Like now, she usually slept late, sometimes just barely making breakfast.
One of the new guys dropped his shield, causing the loud reverberation to make some of the now awake men groan and swear while the young man apologized profusely. Vesna and a few of the other veterans slept through it, years of this making them dead sleepers. She murmured something about socks and snuggled into the warmth in front of her, sleeping peacefully.
One could even argue that Oracles of Poison cannot get sick with alcohol, the soothing magic that runs through their bodies still wears them out. Mihai may not have been out cold from the drinks, he just about passed out from exhaustion by the time Vesna got him in bed. Surely, his God would have a lot to heal during the night. Vesna was lucky too, as the Oracle had the tendency to toss and turn during sleep, but being so tired, he slept like a rock.
Mihai barely stirred when the sun hit them, and it was only when a heavy, metal shield fell down and wake up the entire room, that the boy’s eyes flickered open. Stirring, he felt a warm weight in his arms. He spotted a dark mess of long hair nuzzling his chest, and with a brief wave of disappointment, Mihai noticed both of them still had their clothes on. ...Aw.
He tried giving the girl a pat on the back. The taste in his mouth hinted they had been drinking, but she probably didn’t have the privileges he did. She’s hangovered, huh? Mihai poked her around a little, and even tried nudging her with his knees.

Pain hit her instantly, causing a small moan to escape her lips. Something hit one of her rather fresh bruises and her body whined in protest. Did she hit her leg against the wall? Everything was so hazy since she was still half asleep. Her body demanded more sleep, trying to heal from the beating it went through yesterday, so she was going to oblige it. The grip on her warm pillow tightened as she curled up closer to it.
Who was speaking to her? Vesna didn't recognize the voice, so it had to be one of the new recruits. And why was he trying to wake her up? Ugh, stop poking me. “I'm sleeping, leave me alone. That's an order.” She groaned, kicking her feel leg back to try to hit the person she thought was behind her. Whether she actually had the authority to be issuing orders alluded her. Regardless, the order was out so maybe she could get back to sleep.
Her body was in that warm and comfortable lull, so Vesna began to drift off again. Just a couple more hours and she'd get up. She wasn't ready to deal with the soreness quite yet. This pillow was the comfiest thing right now, and she was going to question where it came from.
After a few minutes of trying to wake miss sleepyhead, the Oracle seemed to have gotten nowhere. Sleepy, huh? Mihai kept on poking the unfamiliar girl. He even tried shaking her, but nothing seemed to work. He sighed. Getting in bed with a nice lady, both their clothes are still on and also she’s just short of being dead. Mihai checked under her breathing, just in case, but she seemed to be okay.
“Damn it…” Carefully, Mihai pulled one of Vesna’s arms back so he could at least get some distance. Their legs were still entangled. Still no running away… And besides, he wanted to be nice to the soul who gave him a free bed to sleep in, even if she was too clingy for his liking.
“If you’re not waking up, lady…” Was she really trying to boss him around? Oh, hell no.“Okay, you have to wake up, or I’ll just assume you’ve kidnapped me.” Arguing with a sleeping body may be futile, but what were his options? Screaming for help, shoving her off the bed, or maybe possibly summon Cúchulainn to kick the peasant’s ass. Until a light bulb appeared over the boy’s head; one of his most evil plans to date. Mihai shifted so his arm was free, and got into position, laying one hand over her waist.

Something was determined to not let her sleep. Someone in the background was saying something to her but all she could make out was mumbling. Oh fine, she would wake up, she was kind of hungry anyways. Didn't that guy want to go on a mission or something or was that all a dream? Wait, didn't he sleep in her bed last night? Ahhh, now it was all making sense; the voices, the poking, he was trying to get her up. She felt something touching her waist and was he.. was he trying to tickle her?
How cute.
With a small grin she opened one eye to look at him. “'Not ticklish there.” She mumbled, shifting her legs away from him so she could stretch. Ohhh that hurt, her body was not happy with that. Vesna turned onto her back with a quiet groan. She knew that two week break she took would do no favours but she wanted to see her family. Now she would just have to work twice as hard to get back into shape.
What to do with this guy though? She turned her head to look at him and smiled sheepishly. “Sorry about that, I hope you weren't trying to wake me up for long. Are you feeling better?” He looked a lot better, which was a relief.
By the time Vesna stirred awake,Mihai was pouting with the effort it took to get the girl up. So tickling didn’t work, but she felt the need to specifically point it out. “Is that some kind of challenge? I’m not tickling you all over, I just want you to wake up.” With that, the boy sat up and looked around. It all seemed like a bunch of cots lined up.
“I’m good. Aren’t you? You seem fine, I think.” As he grew more awake, and talked, and breathed, Mihai noticed more and more the strong taste still lingering in his mouth, from the previous night’s drinking. He didn’t remember much of it, and what he did seemed blurry and distant. “No one followed us here, right?”
“Did I ever get your name? ” He asked as he tied his boot laces “I can’t remember much. Was there a lot of people yelling?” The boy let out a chuckle though. Whenever Mihai blacked out like that, he usually didn’t concern himself with bad things that may have happened, but instead he would content himself with imagining what could have gone down. His nights away from the Order were fun more often than not, so why worry?

Jeez, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She frowned, running her fingers through her hair. Maybe he was just hungry. “It wasn't a challenge. I just- ah never mind!” She pushed the blankets off of her and sat up with a yawn. Her clothes were all disheveled but she didn't notice. It was so early, too early. No point in delaying the inevitable now.
“I'm fine. I'm just really sore. Sorry I slept so long, I haven't been home in a few days.” Home, it felt nice to be back here with her brothers. The new warriors were kind of cute, she missed seeing them train so earnestly. No new rangers which was a shame. It seemed like it would be Maksim and herself until they retired. Hang on, did he say followed? So he really was avoiding something! “Not that I know, you almost passed out in the bar so I brought you here.”
Vesna slipped out of bed, stretching again. Her shorts slipped low on her hips but once again she was too tired to notice. “It's Vesna. You were drunk last night so I didn't expect you to remember. Yes there was, you won a drinking contest. Then I brought you here since you said you were lost.”
Oh how she wanted to slip back into her bed. She yawned, rubbing a hand across her face. “You hungry? It's breakfast time.” Vesna reached over and grabbed his hand. “Lets go before everyone wakes up.”
Once the boots were properly laced, Mihai got up and tried to straighten his clothes. He didn’t mind the wrinkles, but he should at least attempt to blend in with the crowd if he wanted to keep the Order away for a few more hours. Don’t drag attention to yourself… Right. The next, and trickier, step was his hair. The strawberry blond mess took more than a few strokes to stay down.
“Vesna, nice to meet you. Again, I suppose. You can call me Mihai, hm?” Mihai was a common enough name, right? As long as he didn’t give too much information than that, the common folk and brutes of the clans shouldn’t be able to recognize the Oracle. Mihai watched carefully as Vesna took his hand. “There’s food here too?”
Free beds, free food. Maybe the clans weren’t as bad as the monks led Mihai to believe. Well, he had mingled with some of the mercenaries before but he had never been invited inside the guilds, or at least not this intimately. Things were usually a lot more formal, and Mihai was glad he could remain anonymous. “So. Are things always this… calm, here? I got the feeling you people would be a lot more… well.”

While he was worrying about his appearance, Vesna was walking out of the room barefoot and barely clothed. This was such a normal occurrence that even the new recruits had finally gotten used to it. She tightened her grip on his hand, worried that they would get separated in the mess hall. “Of course there's food. What would we eat?” What a silly question from him! What would she do, go out and every day? They hardly made enough money to do that.
“You're thinking of Sariel most likely.” She answered with an amused grin as she hit the swinging door with her shoulder. “They're very intense. Vilkacis does their own thing and Terraynia are nice enough. The guys in Sariel, they're pretty scary.” The line up was small thankfully, and she tried to pull Mihai towards the line with her. “I guess we're pretty laid back?”
It wasn't until then that Vesna realized how starving she was. Breakfast today was pancakes with eggs and some sort of meat she forgot the name of. Her plate was loaded with all of them. “Just help yourself. Put enough on your plate though, we never have leftovers.” She advised, grabbing her cutlery and napkins. Most of the tables were empty so she grabbed a seat at the end of one of the tables on the outside of the perimetre. She still had discuss that mission with him but she was too hungry to right now.

Mihai gladly let Vesna do the thinking for him as she got a better grip on his hand. Still charmed by the gruff looking, but somehow friendly sounding warriors all around them, Mihai just walked as Vesna guided him. The smell of breakfast was a little overwhelming; the God of all things rotten doesn’t care much for good looking, or good tasting, food. “What’s all that yellow stuff? Eggs? It smells nice.”
The girl didn’t really have the time to explain as Mihai nearly dashed for it. He should at least try the free goods, regardless of what it actually was, so he got a scoop out of everything available. “No one really cares you have a guest, huh?” He asked, already for their table.
Once they were seated, Mihai looked up at her and smile, even if he still chewed on a piece of pancake. The food was good, fairly fresh and definitely better than what the Oracle was used to, at least in the Order. People hosting someone as important as an Oracle would offer the best food around for him. He appreciated the concern, of course, but it was interesting to have good food that didn’t get important guest bias. Regardless, Mihai was eager to know what was laid ahead for him if he decided to actually stick around this Vesna girl. “What’s the plan now? Do you have a mission?”

Oh how delicious real food tasted. After being out on the trail only eating jerky she was happy to have some real food. “Yes, eggs, they're pretty good.” The chef had this unusual but delicious spice for the eggs and Vesna knew she would never like any other scrambled eggs besides these ones. Darn that woman, she ruined it for her.
When he asked about the guest thing, she shrugged while chewing a large mouthful of pancake. Did they care? Probably not, she was wearing clothing after all so nothing had occurred. Once she swallowed the bite Vesna decided to answer properly. “Not really. They know we didn't have sex and we usually have 'guests' a couple times a week. It's nothing new, we're not the marrying kind after all.” It made her kind of sad to realize she was never going to be like ordinary women. If she lived long enough to retire she would be too old to start a family. Really the only way that was going to happen is if she had an accident but she was very careful about that.
So he did want to do a mission huh? That was alright, she could take care of him if it was something easy. “The bounty board is in the great hall when you first walk in. You can look at the low level marks and pick one. I'm not particular about which one you pick.” Perhaps if he got to pick it he would feel more important? Vesna didn't want him to feel put out but she really didn't want to have this poor civilian die on her watch. It was bad business after all.
