Here is a quick overview of the classes your character can take on if they fight to survive and prosper in this world. Rangers and Rogues can be hired through the clan. Grenadiers, Paladins and Warriors can be members of the clan or soldiers in the army. Healers are found through out the world. Order Healers, Templars and Clerics are found only in the Orders.
Rangers- If you want to travel safely through an area, you hire a ranger. They know every trail through the forest and can get you from Point A to Point B without you getting eaten. Some say they are part of the forest themselves, their ability to navigate and survive uncanny. Rangers are typically bow users and tend to avoid combat when able.
Paladins- These are your tanks, your front line defense. Paladins are notable for their massive armour, strong bodies and large weapons. Most join the forces, protecting their King and their kingdom or become knights. Those seeking wealth and fame become mercenaries. What they lack in fine skill they make up with brute force. Large, powerful weapons are a paladin's favourite, or sword and shield.
Healers- People dedicated to the ways of using the earth to heal. Some believe they practice sorcery, espers in disguise, but they only use herbs and wisdom to save lives. Typically a healer will apprentice under an Elder Healer, starting off at an early age. It is up to the Elder to decide if the person is ready or not to begin their journey alone. Healers rarely ever join combat, but do carry staffs and daggers for protection.
Rogues- Better known as assassins, these individuals tend to work outside of the law in the shadows. Clever and nimble, if you are their mark you'll have no idea what hit you. Despite them being shadier characters, rogues are by no means lone wolves. They work well in groups, often being the distraction or the one dealing the killing blow. Rogues are very capable with daggers, short swords and throwing weapons, and often have many tricks up their sleeves.
Warriors- Not as heavily armoured as paladins, but just as deadly. Warriors are quicker, more specialized, and usually make up the bulk of an army. Those who want to be more than cannon fodder become mercenaries, where they make capable leaders and dependable fighters. There is a broad array of weapons that warriors can use, but they tend to focus their training on only one.
Grenadier- Specialized soldiers that use guns and grenades. Though not as strong in numbers as they once were, if you're lucky enough to find one you're making a great ally. They have vast and in depth knowledge of all things that go boom. Grenadiers can create their own bombs and grenades but supplies are limited and hard to come by. (Limit 1 per Clan Branch)
Order Healers- Their powers are used exclusively on other Order members, to heal any wounds they might receive from battle.
Templars- The warriors of the Orders. Though not very skilled they will gladly fight to the death if that is what their Oracle desires. Templars are lightly armoured and tend to carry smaller but more exotic looking weapons.
Clerics- Mages of the Orders, they use magic offensively to destroy whatever their Oracle demands. The spells themselves depends on the element of their Esper, but all are just as deadly. Their magic is innate but also draining, so they use their spells wisely.
Please remember that this is just a loose summary of classes, to give you a general idea of their roles and skills in the world. If you want to be a ranger with a sword or a healer with a bow go for it, but please try not to combine the classes into one mega killing machine. Have fun with it and make it your own.
